New low-cost flight option to Orlando available from Huntsville; more on way

Theme park lovers, rejoice!  Your much-needed Disney or Universal fix is just a short plane ride away from North Alabama.  You can now book direct flights out of Huntsville to Orlando. Regional airline Silver Airways started its daily service from Orlando to Huntsville on Thursday.

One-way flights will be offered at a rate of $99 for a limited time.  You must book through silverairways.com to receive the promotional rate.  The airline also offers one stop flights to Fort Lauderdale, Key West and the Bahamas.

Another low-cost airline will also start offering service from HSV soon.  Frontier Airlines will begin flying direct flights to Orlando and Denver starting in October.  Rates begin at $39 each way, though they do charge extra for carry-on luggage.

Currently direct flights are also available from Huntsville International to the following places:

American Airlines:  Chicago (O’Hare), Dallas/Fort Worth, Charlotte & Washington-National

Delta:  Atlanta & Detroit

United:  Chicago, Denver, Houston & Washington, DC (Dulles)
